China PLA military exercise with new vehicle-mounted advanced EW systems

People’s Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) units have been conducting a military training exercise with new vehicle-mounted electronic warfare (EW) systems paraded by Beijing, Chinese state media revealed in video footage.
The EW systems, which are installed on 6×6 Dongfeng Mengshi CSZ181 armored vehicles and have a crew of four, were operated by a PLAGF unit within the 78th Group Army of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA’s) Northern Theatre Command.
One of the EW systems features two telescopic masts suitable for VHF/UHF/SHF spectrum monitoring and direction-finding, which offers the system the capability of communications electronic support measures (ESM).
While it is not yet clear what type of EW equipment is included in the vehicles’ system, analysts argue that it is possible that the system may be suitable for radar ESM.
