Chinese professor accused of espionage in the US found guilty

Zhang Hao, a professor from the University of Southern California, was found guilty of economic espionage and stealing trade secrets.
The case that initiated with Hao’s arrested in 2015 finally received a verdict through an in-person hearing.
The professor was convicted of having stolen and sold American secrets to the Chinese authorities.
The announcement contributes to the worsening of the relationship between the two superpowers as tension continues to escalate despite the Hawaii Meeting.
