EU prepares for the new Connecting Europe Facility programme CEF2 Digital

In preparation for the launch of the new Connecting Europe Facility (# CEF2digital) project in 2021, a number of workshops are currently underway to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to learn more and to contribute to its growth.

National workshops

The European Commission, in partnership with the European Broadband Competition Bureau Network (BCO Network), is organizing dedicated workshops organized by individual Member States.

These will concentrate on CEF2 areas most important to each State and will include briefing sessions with public administrations and private operators on future funding goals. Workshops have already been held in Austria, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Denmark and Croatia.

EU Study Workshop

The European Commission hosted a Study Workshop on Smart Investments for Smart Communities on 1 October.

This workshop included presentations of the preliminary results of the study analyzing potential market failures in digital infrastructures and assessing which players could benefit from EU subsidies; how funding schemes could be structured and combined with funding and financing from other public and private sources; and the preliminary results of the CEF2 Digital online public consultation.

The web stream video of the workshop can be viewed online, and the report of the study group can also be downloaded here.
