Patria demonstrates advanced remote-controlled AMV 8×8 vehicle under 5G network

Patria, in cooperation with the University of Tampere as part of the research project RemoteFeel, has demonstrated the remote beyond visual line of sight operation of its AMV 8×8 vehicle under 5G network.
RemoteFeel is a research project funded by Business Finland, FIMA ry (Forum for Intelligent Machines) and the research parties University of Tampere (UTA) and Tampere University of Technology (TUT). RemoteFeel is a two-year project, scheduled to end in February 2020. The design, development and evaluation of remote operation solutions will be carried out in close collaboration with 10 member companies of FIMA.
It saw the use of Patria’s Remote Operating Desk (ROD) and advanced user interface with features that included augmented reality and haptic feedbacks.
The vehicle also reportedly features the University of Tampere-developed a combined stereo camera system.
Patria demonstrated in 2018 its unmanned heavy ground vehicle capabilities with two Patria AMV 8×8 vehicles at European Land Robots Trial (ELROB) in Belgium.
The new unmanned solution can be integrated into new Patria AMVXP, Patria 6×6 vehicles and the existing delivered AMV 8x8s.
