Russia releases footage showing fighter jets intercepting US aircraft

The Russian Defense Ministry (MoD) has relased a video of Russian fighter jets cutting off US Air force planes in the region of the Black Sea.

In the past weeks the military activities in the territory has significantly increased due to the rise of tension between several NATO nations and Russia. Russia has reported to have detected around 35 foreign spy planes near their border in the past week.

The specific region of the Black Sea has recently been more prone to experience these types of interactions.

“The Russian combat aircraft performed the sortie in strict compliance with the international rules of using the airspace,” said the Defense ministry.

The US has not been the only foreign state who has flown into the territory, British planes have also been detected recently.

Tension has begun to evaluate since 2014 when Russia seized the Crimean Peninsula and intervened in Ukraine.
