Russia tested SATCOM REDUT-2US and ARTEK communication systems

On April 11, signal units of the Southern Military District have established closed satellite communication channels with troops at a distance of more than 1 thousand km.
The signalmen successfully organized a stable, secure communication between control centers and army units, on short-wave and ultra-short-wave radio stations, and equipped video-conferencing control centers. The procedure of switching equipment was also checked.
The tests of the communication units of the South-Eastern Military District were held at combined-field training facilities deployed in the Volgograd and Rostov regions, in the Stavropol and Kuban regions, in Dagestan, North Ossetia, as well as a Russian military base in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Armenia as part of a verification test during the winter training session.
More than 1.5 thousand units of military equipment were involved in tactical exercises, including the latest unified command and staff vehicles R-149MA1 based on the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier, the P-230T control station fixed on the Tiger vehicle, and hardware stations and communication systems, “Redut-2US” and “R-166-05 Artek radio station”.
