Russia unveils plans for Operation Caucasus 2020 against UAVs

The main goal of the exercises is the development of techniques and systems for opposing cruise missiles and the general use of low-speed and small-sized UAVs.

Russian Air and Space Forces, deputy commander Lieutenant General Yuri Grekhov, summarizes the development of a series of military exercises. To date, Aerospace forces have already conducted four training camps.

According to Grekhov, the main task of tactical drills remains, “to be on combat duty on air defense to protect the state border, monitor compliance with the rules for using the airspace of the Russian Federation and suppress terrorist acts using aircraft.”

The main operation, named “Caucasus 2020”, will involve the strategic command and staff exercise. Besides, a critical step in the training of air defense forces will be the fulfillment of 13 tactical activities with live firing with formations and military units.
