US Congress notified of potential foreign military sales of AGM-114 Hellfire II air-to-ground missile to Republic of Korea
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has reportedly notified the Congress of the potential foreign military sales (FMS) of AGM-114R Hellfire Missiles to the Republic of Korea (RoK).
Approved by the US State Department, the total estimated cost of the FMS and related equipment is valued at $36 million.
Lockheed Martin will serve as the principal contractor for the FMS.
The sale package will include 288 AGM-114R Hellfire missiles and AGM-114R spare parts.
The AGM-114 Hellfire II is an air-to-ground missile system developed primarily to serve an anti-armour role.
Services such as the US Government and contractor technical, engineering, repair, storage, and logistics personnel services are also part of the FMS programme.
Furthermore, other associated elements of logistical and programme support were also requested.
According to DSCA, the Hellfire missiles will add to ROK’s current weapon inventory for AH-64E attack helicopter and boost missile capability.
